Workshop Background
Recent years, world has witness great progress in photovoltaic and it has been considered a driving force of the world renewable energy . the rapid economic development is no doubt one of the best chances for world businesses. To meet the growing energy demand, development of Photovoltaic will be one of the first choice.
In Europe, Photovoltaics have been used very successfully for several decades to provide high-reliability power for remote industrial use in inaccessible locations, or where the small amount of power required is more economically met from a stand-alone PV system than from mains electricity. At present in the UK a large proportion of the market is made up of these kinds of applications.
Today India has the World's largest programmes for Photovoltaic. Several Photovoltaic technologies have been developed and deployed in villages and cities of India. A Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES) was created in 1992 for all matters relating to Non-Conventional / Renewable Energy. It undertakes policy making, promotion, coordination of functions, R&D and technology development, intellectual property protection, human resources development and other matters relating to Renewable Energy. Government of India also created Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) to assist and provide financial assistance in the form of subsidy and low interest loan for Photovoltaic projects.
In china, serveral Photovoltaic technologies are progressing well and it has made great progress in rural electricity generations, chinese governmet has set out many policy to encourage the Photovoltaic development.
OPET Network, as one of the non-profit organization, is mainly devoted to promoting worldwide use of new and renewable energy under European Commission Research Framework. Today we, Guangzhou Instititute of Energy Conversion and the OPET Network are very pleased to invite you to attend the 2004 Asia-European Photovoltaic Workshop: Opportunities and Obstacles. The international workshop will take place along with Asia International Renewable Energy Fair (REAsia 2004 http://www.re-asia.com) to be held in Beijing. We hope you will have ch
